Tell us about your business and the story behind its creation!
SPRINKLE ROBOT was the nickname my husband gave me because it fit the bill.
I design and create every single icing sprinkle by hand and often I apply the teeniest of details. Making icing sprinkles is not new to me because as a cookie artist/decorator there was always leftover royal icing around and I never wanted it to go to waste. I made my first set of icing sprinkles years ago for my friend’s son’s superhero birthday party. She loved the ease of decorating with my icing sprinkles without the decorating headache. Store bought cupcakes/cake were instantly fun and festive by applying my sprinkles. Fast forward 10 years and a move from NYC and here I am making hundreds and even thousands of sprinkles!
What products and services do you offer?
At Sprinkle Robot I offer royal icing decorations for your homemade or store bought treats. They instantly turn a simple cupcake or cake into something fun and festive.
What makes them unique?
I design and create every single icing piece. They are hand painted and many of them have tiny details that give them personality and tons of character. I often create different designs for holidays or specific times of the year like seasons. You don’t need to have any cupcake/cake/cookie decorating experience to buy my sprinkles. You can easily turn store bought treats into something that looks like they’ve come from a bakery or fancy pastry shop!
What do you love most about running your own business and being a business owner?
The thing I love the most about being a small business owner is that I can create something that brings so many people joy! The pandemic required people to stay at home and they were doing a lot of baking! My Etsy shop exploded every time I dropped a new icing collection and found myself shipping all over the country plus a few international ones. Many orders were from grandparents sending to their grandkids so that they could bake something and apply a cute icing sprinkle on their creations. Also many professionals in the pastry industry have embraced my icing sprinkles and will include them on their holiday or special treats.
What has been one of the most memorable experiences or opportunities that you’ve experienced since opening your business?
I wish I could tell you about a couple of major opportunities in my horizon but you’ll just have to wait and see…..
What advice would you give to aspiring business owners?
My advice to anyone who is thinking about starting their own business is to just “Go for it!” Do your research and make sure that this is something you are passionate about and that ultimately will brings you joy!
